"Black or White" is a mix of hard rock, dance and rap. Written, composed, and arranged by Jackson with the rap lyrics by Bill Bottrell, it is a song that promotes racial unity. The song's introduction and main riff is performed by guitarist Slash. The song peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart, as well as in 18 other countries. The music video for "Black or White" was first broadcast on MTV, BET, VH1, and FOX (after the episode of The Simpsons) on November 14, 1991. Along with Jackson, it featured Macaulay Culkin, Tess Harper, and George Wendt. It helped usher in morphing as an important technology in music videos. The video was directed by John Landis, the same director as Thriller. The first few minutes of the video featured an extended version of the song's intro, in which a young kid (Macaulay Culkin) is playing loud music in his bedroom at night, and is yelled at by his enraged father (George Wendt), who demands he stops playing the music and go to bed. Culkin decides to forego his father's request to go to sleep by setting up large speaker cabinets behind his father's reclining chair, donning leather gloves and sunglasses, and playing an extremely loud power chord on an electric guitar. The sound shatters the house's windows and sends his father (seated in his chair) halfway around the world, where the actual song starts. Culkin's mother declares that his father will be "very upset" upon his return. The song from the CD does not use Culkin's nor Wendt's voice; they are replaced by voice actors performing a similar intro. Wendt winds up in Africa, and Michael Jackson begins to sing "Black or White", surrounded by various different cultures scene-by-scene.Dangerous was the first album Michael Jackson released in the 1990s, on November 22, 1991. It became Jackson's second album to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, where it spent the next 4 weeks selling 7 million copies in the U.S.; his third best-selling album there. With sales of approximately 30 million copies worldwide[1], it is Jackson's best-selling recording of the nineties and near ties with Bad as his second-best selling album, behind Thriller. Recording sessions for the album began in Los Angeles at Ocean Way/Record One Studio 2 on June 25, 1990 and ended at Larrabee North and Ocean Way Studio on October 29, 1991 (according to the sleeve notes of the Special Edition of the album), being the most extensive recording project of Jackson's career until that time (over sixteen months compared to the usual six months spent in the recording of his previous three studio albums). In March 1991, Michael Jackson signed a 15 year, 6 album deal to Sony Music. The press reported that Sony actually handed over $1 billion to Jackson, but that was not the case. At the time, Sony estimated that if the albums Jackson released under the new contract sold at the same level they currently sold, it would generate over $1 billion in profits for them. Additionally, Jackson was awarded the highest royalty rate in the business. By the time the contract expired in March 2006, Michael would have been paid $45 million from Sony ($1 million a year, plus $5 million per album delivered). This does not include money he would have also earned from sales of albums, singles, videos etc. Under this contract, Jackson is estimated to have earned $175 million from album sales alone. At this point, Dangerous was already in the making and Jackson ended his association with Quincy Jones, in favour of the producing talents of new jack swing inventor Teddy Riley. Jackson also decided to deliver a compact disc full of material. The previous Bad was his last album designed for the LP industry, containing the usual ten songs and lasting under 50 minutes. In the other hand, Dangerous was a 77-minute, 14-song album, almost daring the capacity of early Nineties compact discs. Consequently, the record was released as a double album in vinyl .The famous album cover was designed by Mark Ryden . The first printing of the album was released as a large box with a picture of Michael Jackson's eyes, which folded open to reveal the normal cover, in pop-up card, with the CD, and booklet in the bottom. Dangerous was heavily anticipated, as highlighted by an incident at the Los Angeles International Airport that witnessed a group of armed robbers stealing 30,000 copies of the new album before its official release.1 - Jam2 - Why You Wanna Trip On Me3 - In The Closet4 - She Drives Me Wild5 - Remember The Time6 - Can't Let Her Get Away7 - Heal The World8 - Black Or White9 - Who Is It10 - Give In To Me11 - Will You Be There12 - Keep The Faith13 - Gone Too Soon14 - Dangerous | | Gung Ho(1986) The Trailer For The Underrated Gung Ho Starring Michael Keaton, Gedde Watanabe, George Wendt, Mimi Rogers, John Turturro, Sô Yamamura, Sab Shimono, Rick Overton,And Clint Howard.
