Se noi tutti, donne e uomini, non tolleriamo più il sessismo e il patriarcalismo: fin quando nella chiesa il potere resta solo nelle mani dei maschi, mentre dalle donne ci si aspetta che servano per amore e rappresentino la dimensione della premura e della dedizione, l'unità di potere, giustizia e amore, fondamentale per i cristiani, viene infranta e rovinata; - se noi agiamo tutti insieme.Se riusciamo a testimoniare in maniera credibile, con parole e azioni, in un mondo sessistico-patriarcale, Dio come il Dio della liberazione e della redenzione e la bontà di Dio; non possiamo limitarci ad affermare a parole la somiglianza di tutti gli uomini con Dio: proprio nella chiesa dobbiamo opporci attivamente alla divisione tra uomini di prima e seconda classe; - se cessa il clericalismo, e ministero e carisma nella chiesa formano di nuovo un'irrinunciabile unità. I criteri più importanti per il ministero nella chiesa non devono più essere il sesso maschile e l'accettazione opportunistico conformistica dello status quo. Dovremmo piuttosto prendere sul serio il fatto che esistono capacità, vocazioni, carismi diversi, che concorrono all'edificazione, nella chiesa, di una comunità di donne e uomini in dialogo reciproco. Tutto questo è un vuoto postulato? Niente affatto: il futuro della chiesa nella linea della reciprocità è già cominciato. Insieme noi, uomini e donne, siamo testimoni del fatto che nella chiesa la reciprocità cresce dal basso. - in tutto il mondo le donne hanno cominciato a smascherare il sessismo e il patriarcalismo presenti nella chiesa e nella teologia cristiana; esse non accettano più le strutture ecclesiastiche e teologiche di subordinazione delle donne, ma le criticano apertamente come espressione di un dominio ingiusto e ingiustificato. - Per molte donne è definitivamente passata la fase in cui si limitavano a porre domande, come pure è passato il tempo dell'attesa in cui la chiesa ufficiale ascolta le loro richieste ed esigenze. Le donne si prendono la libertà di agire conformemente alla loro comprensione della fede cristiana, consapevoli di essere anch'esse la chiesa. - Per molte donne essere cristiani significa: il dovere di impegnarsi qui e ora per la liberazione degli oppressi in vista di una vita auto determinata e umana per tutti, nella convinzione che "in Cristo non c'è né uomo né donna" (Gal 3,28)».  | Pope Benedict XVI Visits U.S.A A smiling Pope Benedict XVI arrived at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland outside Washington, April 15, 2008 to cheers from a crowd of invited guests. The pontiff was greeted by Bush, the first lady and their daughter Jenna, each of whom shook his hand. The President drove out to meet the leader of over 1 Billion Catholics. The honor of picking the Pope up at the airport was never before given by the President to a visiting leader In fact, no president has done so at Andrews Air Force Base, the typical landing spot for modern leaders. From the base, the Pope's massive motorcade moved slowly down the wide avenues of the U.S. capital to the Vatican Embassy, where the pope is staying. Crowds of enthusiastic spectators waved U.S. and Vatican flags and screamed as the pontiff rode past. Crowds of over 12,000 lined up the roads leading to the White House on Wednesday, April 16th for the pope's official, pomp-filled arrival ceremony featuring the U.S. and Holy See anthems, a 21-gun salute, and the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. The Pope and Pres. Bush made remarks at White House' south lawn before a huge audience of dignitaries and pressmen then proceeded to the Oval Office meeting.Pope Benedict VI brought a message of Christian hope to all Americans and to the United Nations on his visits April 15-20. "I came to the United States as pope for the first time to proclaim this great truth; Jesus Christ is hope for men and women of every language, race, culture and social condition." he said.
