Momo (1986) - Ave Maria
A tribute to the 1986 movie "Momo" which I absolutely loved as a child. It's based on the book of the same name by German author Michael Ende (who also wrote "The Neverending Story"). If you like unique "children's" stories (Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, and the like), you'll love Momo. :o) Enjoy the video, and please leave a comment letting me know why you did or didn't like it... Music: Rebecca Luker - Ave Maria Cast: Radost Bokel Armin Mueller-Stahl John Huston Mario Adorf
"Eastern Promises" - Trailer #2
The new thriller reteaming acclaimed director David Cronenberg with his A History of Violence leading man Viggo Mortensen, Eastern Promises is written by Steve Knight (Academy Award-nominated screenwriter of Dirty Pretty Things). As in the earlier film, director and star together explore the psyche, physicality, and fortunes of a man whose true nature may never be wholly revealed. The mysterious and charismatic Russian-born Nikolai Luzhin (Mr. Mortensen) is a driver for one of London's most notorious organized crime families of Eastern European origin. The family itself is part of the Vory V Zakone criminal brotherhood. Headed by Semyon (Academy Award nominee Armin Mueller-Stahl), whose courtly charm as the welcoming proprietor of the plush Trans-Siberian restaurant impeccably masks a cold and brutal core, the family's fortunes are tested by Semyon's volatile son and enforcer, Kirill (Vincent Cassel), who is more tightly bound to Nikolai than to his own father. But Nikolai's carefully maintained existence is jarred once he crosses paths at Christmastime with Anna Khitrova (Academy Award nominee Naomi Watts), a midwife at a North London hospital. Anna is deeply affected by the desperate situation of a young teenager who dies while giving birth to a baby. Anna resolves to try to trace the baby's lineage and relatives. The girl's personal diary also survives her; it is written in Russian, and Anna seeks answers in it. Anna's mother Helen (Sinéad Cusack) does not discourage ...
ATTACK ON LENINGRAD on DVD 15th February 2010
Starring OSCAR WINNER Mira Sorvino, GOLDEN GLOBE WINNER Gabriel Byrne and OSCAR NOMINEE Armin Mueller-Stahl comes one of the most powerful war epics of the decade! A soaring, action-packed journey of heroism and sacrifice as one crusading journalist desperately fights to uncover the horrors buried within the infamous Nazi siege of Leningrad in the savage winter of 1941. In the height of World War II, journalist Kate Davis becomes trapped within the devastated city of Leningrad. Separated from her lover, American writer Philip Parker, Kate is rescued by Nina Tsvetkova, a member of the Leningrad militia who provides refuge for those escaping those horrors of war that have come so close to home. With the enemys grip closing ever tighter on the war-ravaged city, stray bullets and catastrophic bombing raids a daily peril, this makeshift band of survivors must battle to stay alive and fight for the ultimate prize: their freedom. An epic story is inspired by true events, featuring an acclaimed, award-winning cast, this is the tale of the tragedy that befell Leningrad: at over 800 days, it was one of the longest and most destructive sieges in history.
Momo (DE 1986) Ganzer Film
Jesus - The Movie (1999) - Part 11 of 12
JESUS - THE MOVIE (1999) - PART 11 of 12 Jesus (1999) is a Biblical telefilm that retells the story of Jesus. It was shot in Morocco and Malta. It stars Jeremy Sisto as Jesus, Jacqueline Bisset as Mary of Nazareth, Debra Messing as Mary Magdalene and Gary Oldman as Pontius Pilate. The film is notable for presenting a more human Jesus, compared to more solemn portrayals in earlier films; here Jesus laughs and cries much like anyone else. Among other things, he weeps at Joseph's funeral, throws stones in Lake Galilee when meeting Simon Peter and James son of Zebedee for the first time, dances at the wedding at Cana, and starts a water-splashing fight with his disciples at a well. Satan is portrayed as a man in modern dress (and as a woman in red, but the former guise is more prominent). During his temptation of Jesus, he shows him the Earth from the vantage point of space. Satan also shows Jesus images of wars and destruction carried out in his name. The film adds an apocryphal Roman historian named "Livio" who watches and comments as events unfold; he is presumably named after Livy. The movie's featured lead original soundtrack is "I Need You" by LeAnn Rimes. CAST INCLUDES: Jeremy Sisto -- Jesus Jacqueline Bisset -- Mary, mother of Jesus Armin Mueller-Stahl -- Joseph Debra Messing -- Mary Magdalene David O'Hara -- John the Baptist Gary Oldman -- Pontius Pilate Directed by Roger Young
