With Stunning Trailer For Ubisoft® Ubisoft's new Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier trailer gave Asylum the opportunity to shine at what it does best - making the impossible look possible. Asylum VFX Supervisor Marc Varisco, working closely with Little Minx director Ben Mor via Ubisoft, complemented the future-war world depicted in the latest Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier game with top-notch post and VFX in a trailer that brings the franchise's signature game play into the live-action world. The action, set on the streets of Moscow, portrays the command centers, rooftop sniper outposts, and tunnels of a chaotic warzone, with mayhem ranging from intense gun battles to rolling battle drones to a missile offensive against a pair of Russian tanks as an elite team of Americans target a wicked enemy commander. From Ubisoft's internal assets, Asylum's CG and compositing teams re-fabricated and animated photo-real US and Russian drones into the trailer's key sequences, developed the subterranean explosions that Ghost Recon® character 30k unleashes on the enemy command bunker, and animated the trademark game play Cross-com and Sniper POV graphics. Additional effects included the major compositing challenge of 30k's cloaking effect - which made him disappear into the background so he could sneak past opposition guards - that translated into a signature live-action effect. Grant as 'Jack Stapleton.' Other interesting screen credits of these excellent actors: Richard Roxburgh also played 'The Duke' in "Moulin Rouge!" (2001); 'Count Vladislaus Dracula' in "Van Helsing" (2004); 'Hugh Stamp' in "Mission: Impossible II" (2000); 'M' and 'The Fantom' and 'Professor James Moriarty' in "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" (2003); and 'Percy Grainger' in "Passion" (1999). Ian Hart also played 'Dr. Watson' in "The Case of the Silk Stocking" (2004); 'Sir Arthur Conan Doyle' in "Finding Neverland" (2004); and 'Professor Quirinus Quirrell' and 'Voldemort' in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." My thoughts: It may stray from the book a little, but I have yet to see an adaptation of this story as excellent as this. As to the technical side of things, I had to put this movie together one frame at a time (literally). I also had trouble converting files, so in some of the later parts, you will see the watermark disappear; unfortunately, the quality also decreases in those few parts without the watermark. And in two of the parts, you'll see the picture 'jump' as the watermark disappears/reappears. It's a long and involved story that I'm sure you don't ... |

 | Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - TV Intro (fanmade) Lately I've been thinking about the Harry Potter movies, and how in adapting the books they've had to take more and more stuff out in order to make each film a reasonable running length. It occured to me that if they were to adapt the books as a TV series, with each book making up a "season" (some seasons would be longer than others), they could let the story develop more and not have to sacrifice so many thoroughly enjoyable scenes, characters, and subplots (to say nothing of the advantages with standing sets, consistent wardrobe, and a cast that is always on hand so we could watch them age in real time). This is my attempt to show that, in the form of an opening credits sequence that would accompany the first "season" for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I used John Williams' prologue from the 'Hook' soundtrack. (And yes, there will be more). Also, I used several moments from the deleted scenes (see if you can spot them; there are four).
