BLUE EYES CRYING IN THE RAIN by CHARLEY PRIDE
Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain by Charley Pride. Written by Fred Rose (Country Music Hall of Fame Member) Charley Pride From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Charley Frank Pride (born March 18, 1938) is a country music artist. During his career, he has had thirty-six number-one hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. He was one of the few African-American country musicians to have considerable success in the largely white country music industry. While he was still trying to make it in baseball, Pride had heard much encouragement to join the music business from country stars such as Red Sovine and Red Foley. Soon, he was working towards this career. In 1958, in Memphis, Tennessee, Pride visited Sun Studios and recorded some songs.[4] One song has survived on tape, and has been released in the United Kingdom as part of an LP-box. The song is a slow stroll in walking tempo called "Walkin' (the Stroll)." [5] After struggling to get a contract with a record company, he finally caught the ear of record producer Chet Atkins. Atkins was the longtime producer of RCA Records, and made stars out of country singers like Jim Reeves, Skeeter Davis and others. Pride was signed to RCA in 1966. In 1966, he released his first single with RCA, "Snakes Crawl at Night". When the song was promoted to radio stations, the label called Pride "Country Charley Pride". At this time, country music was a white medium. Soon after the release of "Snakes Crawl at Night", Pride released another ...
The Assassination of Anwar El Sadat
On 6 October 1981, the month after the crackdown, Sadat was assassinated during the annual victory parade in Cairo. A fatw? approving the assassination had been obtained from Omar Abdel-Rahman, a cleric later convicted in the US for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Sadat was protected by four layers of security and the army parade should have been safe due to ammunition-seizure rules. However, the officers in charge of that procedure were on hajj to Mecca. As air force Mirage jets flew overhead, distracting the crowd, a troop truck halted before the presidential reviewing stand, and a lieutenant strode forward. Sadat stood to receive his salute, whereupon the assassins rose from the truck, throwing grenades and firing assault rifle rounds. The attack lasted about two minutes. Photographer Bill Foley captured one of the last shots of a living Sadat. The photograph is titled "The Last Smile." The lead assassin Khalid Islambouli shouted "Death to Pharaoh!" as he ran towards the stand and shot Sadat. After he fell to the floor people around Sadat threw chairs on his body to try to protect him from the bullets. Eleven others were killed, including the Cuban ambassador a Omani general and a Coptic Orthodox bishop, and 28 were wounded, including James Tully, the Irish Minister for Defence, and four US military liaison officers. Sadat was then rushed to a hospital, but was declared dead within hours. This was the first time in Egyptian history that the head of ...
HELPLESS
At the kick-off, our 13 person team, The League of Extraordinary Filmmakers, drew the genre of HORROR. We quickly formulated a plan and began scriptwriting. The next day was a fast paced, intense shoot day with little room for error. Luckily, our team of trained professionals worked in harmony to capture only what was necessary for the film. We called our last shot around 7:3o pm, an hour ahead of schedule. For the next several hours we waited around patiently as our editor David Ouellette chopped and organized all of the days footage. David continued to work through the night, diligently cutting up the footage and slowly building the story on the timeline. By the next morning David had finished editing many of the scenes. We patiently waited again as other team members polished the footage and began to lay down a rough score to the film. Then, as the scenes were completed they were transferred to the Audio Tech, Mike Kalbac for a final adjusting of levels, ADR and Foley. The film was then bounced back to the editor for a final color correction and graphics pass. After this we all had a chance to sit down and watch the short for the first time. We were truly amazed at what we were able to do in 48 hours, but we didn't stall. We got the film burned onto a disc and we rushed out the door. We arrived at Ker's Winghouse and turned in our project with 7 minutes to spare Special thanks to The League of Extraordinary Filmmakers: Jeff Blake, Kirsten Charanian, Clay Robertson ...
