 | Gena Rowlands, Seymour Cassel--Cassavetes interview For more clips like this, background to the clips, and a most enjoyable, all-around guide to "everything from high art to low trash and back again," visit the blog for the NYC cult cable-access show Media Funhouse, located here:www.mediafunhouse.blogspot.comWe conducted this phone interview about the films of John Cassavetes with Gena Rowlands and Seymour Cassel in 1997 in conjunction with the first home-video release of "Shadows" and "Faces" (the footage viewed is from the latter film). The duo talk about the very important issue (to fans and critics alike) of the very lengthy early versions of Cassavetes' films that were shown to film festival and select screening audiences, many of which were radically different from the films as we now know them. You can tell the interview took place in the mid-'90s -- witness the mention of "laser discs." More information about the show can be found at our website, www.mediafunhouse.com | | Wendell Baker Story Press Conference Press Conference for The Wendell Baker Story from SXSW. Where he's been is unclear, but his future seems even murkier; the tales he spins to his bemused coworker, played by indie icon Seymour Cassel, of domestic bliss with a beautiful, pregnant girlfriend are at odds with his mysteriously empty apartment. As Frankie's stories start to unravel, writer-director Ben Rodkin slowly builds his film's tension to a jittery tautness underscored by an ominous soundscape of mariachi bands, subterranean currents and distant echoes of the racetrack that holds the secret to Frankie's past.Directed By: Ben RodkinWriter: Ben RodkinProducer: Peter Paul BaslerExecutive Producer: Matthew HarrisonLydic, Jake AlstonTues., June 24, 7:00pm, The RegentWed., June 25, 1:30pm, The LandmarkThu., June 26, 10:00pm, The LandmarkTo purchase tickets please visit http://www.lafilmfest.com or call 1.866.FILMFEST | | Ouf! Okay, not quite everything. Postal is, once again, a Boll film adapted from a video game, but while his early efforts were ever-so serious Postal is a crudely uproarious, positively hilarious satire of post 9/11 America, religious extremism, conspiracy theories, and just about anything else you'd care to throw into the pot. There is no cow too sacred, no joke too crude for Boll and company. And while the dick and fart jokes abound, Postal also shows a surprisingly sharp satiric edge, one that guarantees the film will offend many as all good satire does. Could it be that this late into his career Boll has found his true calling?--------------------------------------------Oubliez à peu près tout ce que vous pensez savoir sur Uwe Boll.
