Djokovic had never beaten Federer but overcame the world number one 7-6 (7-2) 2-6 7-6 (7-2) in a thrilling match. The Serb saved six set points in the first set and took it on a tie-break only for defending champion Federer to storm back and level the match. Federer cancelled out Djokovic's early break in the decider but was no match for the 20-year-old in the tie-break.
