Between 1994-1999, she was a member of Hole, and her participation as bass player and songwriter culminated in the album "Celebrity Skin" released in 1998. In 2000, she joined the Smashing Pumpkins for their farewell world tour. In 2004, "Auf der Maur", her first solo album, was released by Capitol Records/EMI worldwide. She toured Europe and North America for over a year in support of this album. The album featured guest appearances by esteemed members of Queens of the Stone Age, A Perfect Circle and Smashing Pumpkins. She has made numerous guest appearances with other music artists including: Indochine, Ryan Adams, Rufus Wainwright, Ric Ocasek and K-OS. She has exhibited her photography in New York, Montreal and Tokyo and her photos have been published in magazines such as: Spin, Nylon, American Photo and Harper's Bazaar. Her new album, Out of Our Minds is a multi dimensional concept album, involving an Album, a Film and a Comic, to be released in 2009. |

Hole was an American alternative rock band that formed in Los Angeles in 1989 and disbanded in 2002. The band was fronted by vocalist guitarist Courtney Love, who co-founded Hole with lead guitarist Eric Erlandson when he responded to an ad she placed in the punk zine Flipside. Lisa Roberts, Love's neighbor, filled in as the band's first bassist but dropped the project very early on. Hole's abrasive, self-consciously obnoxious style of alternative rock was initially influenced heavily by punk rock and noise rock, though as they progressed they began to incorporate elements of pop punk and power pop into their sound. Love has joked that she took the name for the band from "my husband's favorite drinking spot" but this claim is dubious since she met Kurt Cobain, her husband, the year after Hole was formed. Love later said that the name came from a conversation she had with her mother. Hole had a brief period as a three-guitar lineup, with the musician Errol Stewert, but the lineup that recorded the first album included only Love, Erlandson, bassist Jill Emery and drummer Caroline Rue. Rue was fired in 1992 and Emery left soon after, to be replaced by Leslie Hardy and Patty Schemel, respectively.
