But when Pavarotti passed away in September 2007, there was a big surge of viewers viewing most of Pavarotti's videos, and that surge propelled his Caruso to surpass Lara's Caruso in a couple of weeks. When that surge slowly subsided, it took about seven months for Lara's Caruso to take back that No. 1 title. But Giazotto never took credit for it. It has since been adapted in song by a few artists. For her 2000 English debut, Lara Fabian, with her producers Rick Allison and Dave Pickell, decided to adapt it in a pop ballad arrangement. They imagined new lyrics for this song; depicting a passionate and heart wrenching story of love that survives through the ages, and once more this old and magnificent piece of music was brought back to life.
