Das Mädchen rennt heulend zu seiner Mutter. Die erklärt ihrer Tochter, um sie zu trösten, dass der Junge das ja nur gemacht habe, weil er sie in Wahrheit gerne hat. Damit ist der Grundstein allen Übels gelegt. Noch im Erwachsenenalter wird sich das Mädchen, wann immer ein Mann sie abweist, eine Ausrede einfallen lassen: Entweder ist er emotional zu unreif oder kommt mit ihrem beruflichen Erfolg nicht klar. Die naheliegendste Erklärung, die zudem auch noch in den meisten Fällen zutrifft, wird hingegen konsequent ausgeklammert: ?Er steht einfach nicht auf Dich. In seiner stargespickten Dramödie räumt Regisseur Ken Kwapis (Eine für 4, Lizenz zum Heiraten) mit lauter solchen Beziehungs-Irrtümern auf. Dabei führt er so manche klischeehafte Dating-Regel, etwa dass Frauen auf keinen Fall zuerst zurückrufen dürfen, gekonnt ad absurdum. Leider fällt sein Film dabei im letzten Akt seinem Entstehungsort Hollywood zum Opfer und wird so auf der Zielgeraden selbst noch zum - wenn auch kurzweiligen - Klischee.  | The Supremes: Live @ The Hollywood Palace (1966) - "You Keep Me Hangin' On" & "Somewhere" The Supremes perform their 8th #1 hit "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and "Somewhere" from West Side Story at The Hollywood Palace on October the 22nd, 1966. This performance features the original (and most popular) lineup of The Supremes: From left to right: - Florence Ballard - Mary Wilson - Diana Ross "You Keep Me Hangin' On" was first released 10 days before this performance on October 12th 1966 with "Remove This Doubt" as its b-side. The song rose to #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 (called the US Pop Singles Chart at the time) and also managed top spot on the US R&B Singles Chart. The song was written and produced by Holland-Dozier-Holland who had written and produced all the group's hits up to then also the song was put on the group's 1967 album entitled "The Supremes Sing Holland-Dozier-Holland". Here is a studio mix of the song that is different to the released version as it features much more prominent and louder backing: uk.youtube.com "Somewhere" is a song from the musical West Side Story. Written by Leonard Bernstein the song has been covered by many. The Supremes not only sing it here but recorded it for their "Theres A Place For Us" album (which is named after the first line in the song) and also had it as part of their live set performing it on their 1965 live album "The Supremes At The Copa" and also sang the song live in Paris in 1965 as part of the Motortown Revue.  | The Supremes - Stop! In The Name Of Love | Acapella The acapella of the 4th #1 hit in a row for Motown group The Supremes. "Stop! In The Name of Love" was first released as a single in 1965 becoming a smash hit; one of The Supremes' most notable recordings and one of the most well known songs of the 20th century. The Supremes' choreography for this song - with one hand on the hip and the other outstretched in a "stop" gesture - is equally legendary. Paul Williams and Melvin Franklin of The Temptations taught the girls the routine backstage in London, before the Supremes' performance on the BBC television special The Sound of Motown, hosted by Dusty Springfield. The song was featured on their "More Hits by The Supremes" album released in 1965 that was actually a regular studio album although its title implies it is a hits compilation. Stop!
