Alors que le long-métrage a créé une vive polémique (il traite de la guerre d'Algérie), aucun incident ne s'est produit au moment du tapis rouge. Bien au contraire, les spectateurs n'ont eu que des bonnes surprises ! Cheryl Cole, Mathilda May, Kristin Scott Thomas, Beth Dito du groupe "The Gossip", l'actrice Salomé Stevenin ou encore le champion de boxe Jean-Marc Mormeck ! Et bien sûr l'équipe du film, sélectionné en compétition officielle, "Hors-la-loi" : le réalisateur Rachid Bouchareb, Roschdy Zem et le dynamique Jamel Debbouze accompagné de sa femme Mélissa Theuriau.
