 | Eurovision 1986 Belgium - Sandra Kim - J'aime la vie Well, what can I say? This is our only winning entry in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest! It's a lovely disco tune and also very good lyrics and an impressive performance by a 13-year old girl. It was actually through this ESC that I became a fan of it. I remember it as it was yesterday: I was a kid of 7 years old. It was the 3th of May in 1986. I was waked up by my dad - a bigger Eurovision-fan than me - who yelled: 'We won! We won!' I went inmediately downstairs and there I saw a girl singing a song, with a tune that was very modern in those days, so I was a fan of it. From that moment I got interested in the Eurovision. 5 Years later I saw the show for the first time complete and I got a very wrong impression of the voting: I thought it was always on such a chaotic way! (It was 1991, you know...) So actually this song maded me a fan of the Eurovision Song Contest. Now Sandra Kim is actually bored of being reminded every day of her victory. On the 21st of July - Belgian national anniversary - she complaines about the fact that she gets so much phonecalls, from people who really see her as a hero. I'm aware of the fact that it will be never possible again to win the Eurovision Song Contest for Belgium. Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Turkey and Armenia are always sure of a place in the top-10 these days. I miss the old days of the Eurovision, when still everything was possible:( |
