BUZZCUT BUZZ CUT
A buzz cut, induction cut or wiffle is a very short haircut. The cut is usually performed using hair clippers without a comb guard. The sides are cut closely and then the top is either shaped or cut to the same short length all over. The cut takes just a few minutes to perform. A buzz cut can make the face look more defined. The buzz cut is popular among people who want a short, low-maintenance hairstyle. Far fewer women than men get their hair clipped off. There are many different variations of buzzcuts. One variation leaves some bangs (fringe) so they can be spiked upwards using gel or other hair products. With side fades, the side hair slowly fades shorter and shorter until the hairline ends, or the shortest clipper number is reached. In some cases, clippers are used to shear the hair short on the sides and back of the head, resulting in a short haircut, but not the classic buzz. A flattop is similar to a buzz cut, with the exception that the hair on the top of the head is not cut as short, and is deliberately styled to stand up. The longest part of the hair in the flattop cut is the front, being one to two inches in height. It is cut to be flat, resulting in a haircut that is square in shape. The style was popular in hip-hop culture during the late 1980s and early 1990s, when it was known as the Hi-top fade. The buzzcut was a fashionable unisex hairstyle in the late 20th century. In the 1990s celebrities like Kevin Costner, George Michael and David Mamet pioneered a ...
Barnes To Stokes
1992 UCLA (5-5, unranked) vs. USC (6-2-1, #15) at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. With 4:14 left in the game, the score is tied 31-31 after the Bruins were down by 14 earlier in the fourth quarter. A Trojan punt pins the Bruins deep into their own territory, back on the four yard line. Two successive running plays bring the ball out six yards to the 10 yard line. On 3rd & 4, fourth-string walk-on quarterback John Barnes makes a ballsy play and lofts a pass to JJ Stokes, who jukes past one defender and carries another into the end zone for the go ahead touchdown. Although USC comes back to score another TD, they miss the two point conversion attempt (props to the Trojans, at least, for not going for the tie). Bruins win 38-37. A number of well-known players participated in this game. USC had Rob Johnson at quarterback, Curtis Conway & Johnnie Morton at wide receiver, and Jason Sehorn on defense. For the Bruins, JJ Stokes (of course), Sean LaChapelle, and Mike Nguyen were the receivers and Kevin Williams was the running back. The stout defense included Bruce Walker, Othello Henderson, Jamir Miller, Donnie Edwards, Carlton Gray, and Nkosi Littleton. Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times wrote a nice article on John Barnes on the 10th year anniversary of this game. You can find it here: articles.latimes.com
