In the previous scene, Widow Perkins had explained to Andy why she was not able to pay her taxes. She had rented a suit for her late husband to wear at his funeral with the plan that the suit would be removed before burial. But he was buried in it and she has been paying 50 cents a day rent for the last 2 years. In this scene Andy confronts the storekeeper who rented the suit. |
