Suspecting a connection between the bank robbers (known as the "Ex-Presidents" because they hide their faces behind masks of former US presidents) and local surfers, Utah goes undercover to infiltrate the surfing community. Knowing little of the surf lifestyle, Utah convinces surfer Tyler Ann Endicott (played by Lori Petty) to mentor him and bring him into the surfing community.In the process, Utah develops a complex relationship with Bodhi (played by Patrick Swayze), the ex-boyfriend of Tyler and charismatic leader of a gang of surfers who accept Utah into their midst. While Utah goes undercover in the hope of finding and identifying the bank robbers, he finds himself increasingly attracted to the adrenaline-charged lifestyle of the community he has infiltrated.The Bodhi/Utah dynamic gets more complicated as Utah begins to zero in on Bodhi as the likely ringleader of the Ex-Presidents. Utah learns that Bodhi and his gang rob banks in order to fund surfing lifestyles and skydiving expeditions and as a form of rebellion against a social system that they believe "kills the human spirit." This creates an internal struggle for Utah, as his fondness for Bodhi and the lifestyle Bodhi epitomizes conflicts with his duty and responsibility as an FBI agent.By the end of the movie, Johnny is so absorbed by this lifestyle that he refuses to arrest Bodhi and instead lets him seek his own death surfing the giant waves of Bells Beach, Australia, in a raging 'fifty year' storm.The actual location used to film Bells Beach Australia is really Indian Beach Oregon.Inspiration from Point BreakSee also the ex-presidents. * The film "The Fast and the Furious" has many plot elements that are similar to those in Point Break, including: the overall plot element of a caper, an undercover agent who learns surfing to find out who the criminals are, arrests of innocent people, the agent discovering that the criminals are his newly found friends, the agent having to tell his girlfriend he is an undercover cop, and the agent busting the main criminal and letting him go. * In the French film Brice de Nice certain scenes are part spoof of and part homage to Point Break. The film portrays the experiences of Brice, a young man from Nice. Although Brice claims to be a great surfer and owns a board, he does not know how to surf (for there are no waves in the Mediterranean Sea). Point Break is Brice's favorite movie and knows all the dialogues by heart. Brice also gets inspired from Point Break in order to rob a bank with the help of a Jacques Chirac mask.  | Thursday the movie-tribute Caution: this is a very graphic film: not for everyone. But I enjoy it. Just a video, I thought the song went with the feel of the movie. Let me know what you thought.A L.A. drug dealer has moved to Houston to make a new life. Everything falls apart when he is suddenly visited by one of his former friends who comes with a suitecase of heroin. Discovering the dope, the he flushes it down the drain. This sets up a series of tough customers seeking the dope including a Rasta hit-man, an ex-lover Dallas who rapes him, a criminal called James with a penchant for torture, and a bad cop (Mickey Rourke).
