 | Il lato oscuro di Madre Teresa: l'amore che non c'era Da tempo alcuni giornalisti di rilievo nella stampa anglosassone, come Christopher Hitchens, hanno cominciato ad occuparsi sistematicamente delle ombre che emergono dietro alla fama della missionaria nota come Madre Teresa di Calcutta. Sono stati raccolti documenti, condotte inchieste, registrate testimonianze, eseguite indagini e più si scava nell'attività realmente svolta da Madre Teresa e più la missionaria appare come un personaggio ambiguo, bigotto, ipocrita, fondamentalista... La suorina albanese era interessata a promuovere i suoi disumani principi dottrinali su sventurati moribondi che finivano nel suo ospizio, destinati a non uscirne più ea morire nella sofferenza, giacchè la missionaria non permetteva l'uso di antidolorifici... il dolore avvicina a Gesù! E mentre a Calcutta molte organizazioni umanitarie portavano benefici reali alla popolazione, costruendo veri ospedali e operandovi con serietà, Madre Teresa si costruiva una immeritevole fama mondiale con la sua indubbia capacità mediatica e imbonitrice, realizzando documentari ad arte per magnificare le sue presunte opere di bene (come il reso celebre "something Beautiful for God"), rimbalzando da una parte all'altra del mondo per presenziare cerimonie, ricevere premi, fare comizi e partecipare a campagne politiche conservatrici. I fondi raccolti da Madre Teresa sono finiti in larga parte nelle casse del Vaticano, il resto nella costruzione di conventi di missionari in tutto il mondo... altro che carità ai ... |

It's subtle, but if you pay attention, you'll notice that the fades from one clip to another change to white (instead of black) whenever they receive inpiration. For example, because of his shyness, it takes Todd a long time to earn his white fades. The song is about a world that has been the same for a very long time and how the "rage that lasts a thousand years/will soon be done," so I thought it was fitting. It's pretty clear he will say ANYTHING with no concern whatsoever about its accuracy if he thinks: a) it will benefit him and b) he will get away with it. Twenty odd years ago, during the Savings and Loan crisis, McCain ran interference on Capitol Hill for banker-crook Charles Keating in return for campaign contributions. In fact, McCain was one of the most vocal defenders in Congress for the criminal culture that destroyed America's Savings and Loan industry. But traitor? How is John McCain a traitor? Well, unlike many of his fellow captives during the Vietnam War, McCain cooperated with his North Vietnamese captors by recording anti-America propaganda. He did it dozens of times. Now you know why the right wing is pushing so hard to paint Obama as doing anti-American things. It's the old George Bush/John Kerry deal all over again. Kerry was a bona fide combat veteran. Bush was an arrogant, cowardly draft dodger protected by his crooked father. The media gave Bush a free pass. They even looked the other way on his cocaine possession arrest. It looks like the traitor, the candidate who actually turned on his own country multiple times, will get the pass this time. Where's the news media on this story? Nowhere to be seen.  | Examining McCain's Keating Five Past, Fox News - 9/22/08 I discussed John McCain's Keating Five past on Fox News, and both the Fox News anchor and the GOP spokesman basically tried to deny that McCain was rebuked for intimidating regulators on behalf of one of his biggest campaign donors, Charles Keating. For reference, here is the Associated Press on 3/23/08: "In his early days as a freshman senator, McCain was known for accepting contributions from Charles Keating Jr., flying to the banker's home in the Bahamas on company planes and taking up Keating's cause with US financial regulators as they investigated him...Keating and his associates raised $1.3 million combined for the campaigns and political causes of all five. McCain's campaigns received $112000. The investigation ended in early 1991 with a rebuke that McCain 'exercised poor judgment in intervening with the regulators.'" |
 | McCain role in Keating Five censored by Fox News 'Cut his mike,' producer suggests The Keating Five scandal, and John McCain's role in it, has received relatively little mention in presidential campaign coverage, and at least one Fox News host seems dedicated to keeping it that way. Appearing Thursday morning on Fox & Friends, radio host Mike Papantonio tried to remind viewers about McCain's intervention with federal regulators on behalf of real estate mogul Charles Keating, who was trying to avoid regulations of a savings and loan he owned during the S&L crisis of the 1980s. F&F's Steve Doocy told Papantonio to "pipe down," called him "rude" and demanded he "cut it out." A show producer could be overheard saying "cut his mike." As Papantonio tries one last time to explain the details of the Keating Five scandal, Doocy again cuts him off. "This is not the History Channel," he says. Papantonio's apparent crime was interrupting fellow guest Michael Reagan, the conservative radio host, who was arguing that it would be unfair to judge McCain based on his actions 20 years ago. "It has everything to do with what's happening today," Papantonio said before being told to pipe down. Regardless of whether Papantonio was being rude, preserving an orderly debate certainly could not have been Doocy's goal in silencing the guest. Not two minutes before his admonition that Papantonio was "being rude," Doocy repeatedly interrupted his guest to deliver talking points that might as well have been written by the McCain campaign.
