 | Tribute to Point of Grace Just as with the tribute to Twila Paris, I took various photos and this time, I timed them to "Jukebox Hero" by Foreigner.Some commentary not found in the video:1. I would like to see a Guys of Grace conference series set up by POG to go along with the existing Girls of Grace series.2. Terry Jones quit in 2004 and was immediately replaced by Leigh Cappillino.3. The concert in Brooklyn Park, MN on 4 April 2008 involved a promotional giveaway consisting of dinner with POG. However, it was only open to women, and I would have liked my fellow males to be eligible.Anyway, this obviously goes out to you, ladies of POG past and present. Too bad I didn't get your autograph at the Brooklyn Park concert. In any case, POG ROCKS!!!!! |
 | Teen Week Ends with a Truly Magical Prom Teen Week was an all-around success. Everyone, including new and returning campers, had a great time, and many new ASCCA memories were created. The week's highlight was the prom, and we gave new meaning to the phrase "save the best for last."Thanks to the ladies from Rocky Creek Baptist Church, we had outstanding decorations, refreshments, and a backdrop. The dining hall was a sparkling, black and white wonderland as well-decorated, if not better, than any high school prom. Mrs. Gaye made corsages and boutonneires for our glamorous campers, which added a special touch to the evening.Geni Payne and Heather White took photos of each camper with their dates and friends. Everyone took home a framed photo and a copy of the slideshow as favors. Matt Rickman and Nathan McNair did an excellent job as dj's, playing fun classics like "Footloose" and "YMCA" as well as plenty of slow songs. |

 | Heather Payne's Farewell from Point of Grace In June of 2008, Heather Payne, one of the original members of Point of Grace, announced her retirement from the group. This was because she had four children and wanted to stay grounded in her own home church. That was not a foolish decision, although she was (by far) the best of the five all-time members. What WAS foolish was for POG to not replace her. The result is descibed toward the end.The subtitles are almost the same as the letters from Heather and the rest of POG concerning her leaving the group. Apart from some grammatical corrections, there are two differences from the texts thereof:1. For the Bible passage--Dt vi:4-9--I used the Vulgate, the first ever translation of the Bible as we know it. Heather's version was in English, presumably using her favourite translation, the NASB. The passage in English:These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your forehead and let them be a symbol on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.2. I have omitted a small passage in the second letter concerning POG's extended version of How You Live as it is not (in my opinion) relevant to the actual letter.Other than that, I have little to say other than that all of the images are from christianmusiclighthouse.com to the best of my knowledge and the song is "Brothers in Arms" by Dire Straits.
