South Pacific musical : Which version do you prefer?
South Pacific- the musical with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II was made into film in 1958 starring Mitzi Gaynor and again in 2001 starring Glenn Close. I loved the 1958 version, but hated the 2001 version. The set was good, but the magic was just missing. Also, Glenn Close was too old for the part. Who wants to watch an old lady behaving like a love-sick teen? My vote goes to pretty Mitzi.
