Hippies Episode 1 Protesting Hippies Part 1 of 3
Due to popular demand and given the rarity of complete episodes, this is Part 1 of 3 of the First BBC Broadcast Episode titled Protesting Hippies of the 1999 BBC Comedy Hippies starring Simon Pegg, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Sally Phillips and Darren Boyd. It was said by those connected with the show at the time that this was a weak episode and perhaps the first broadcasted show should have been a stronger episode. As it was, the critics based their judgement on this episode and slated the show mercilessly. You can judge for yourself whether they got it right or wrong. Enjoy.
Smack the Pony - Girlband spoof
From Series 1 Show 5 of Smack the Pony, broadcast 16 April 1999. Common consensus states that all their music spoofs were embarrassing and rubbish, but that's just received opinion at its most tiresome. In fact, they were all great - especially this one, primarily a piss-take of B*Witched, which I'd argue is easily up to Not the Nine O'Clock News standard. The song is the work of the superb Jonathan Whitehead and is performed here by Sally Phillips, Doon Mackichan, Fiona Allen and Sarah Alexander.
